Capital One Cup final betting: Liverpool to beat Manchester City to first trophy of season
Liverpool and Manchester City go head to head for the first silverware of the season in the Capital One Cup final on Sunday.
The match sees two managers at opposite ends of spells at their respective clubs.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini has announced he will leave in the summer. After being knocked out of the FA Cup and in fourth position in the Premier League, the League Cup could be his only chance of saying goodbye with a trophy.
His side have struggled since beating Everton in the semi-final, losing to Leicester, Tottenham and Chelsea, though they did beat Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday.
With Pep Guardiola on the way to succeed him, it appears he is having trouble motivating a team with one eye on their new boss.
Jurgen Klopp, on the other hand, is fresh in the job, having only taken control at Anfield in October.
Returning to the ground where he lost the 2013 Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund, Klopp should have no problem firing up Liverpool and their fans as they chase their first trophy since 2012.
Betway make Liverpool 2/1 to win in 90 minutes, and I think they’ll do it. The Reds have been inconsistent all year but have raised their game for the big matches, as seen in a 3-1 win over Chelsea and a 4-1 win against Sunday’s opponents.
With City’s shaky defence there for the taking, Liverpool could add to the three they’ve scored against Arsenal, five against Norwich, and six against Aston Villa within the last month.
Add that to Sergio Aguero’s 19 in 27 this season, and I think there’ll be goals.
Spread bettors can buy total goals at 2.8 with Sporting Index, which I’ll be doing.
