Cadbury cafe chain to be launched
CADBURY is set to launch a high street cafe chain under new owners Kraft.
Up to 60 new outlets called Cadbury Cocoa Houses are to be set up across the UK, serving hot chocolate, afternoon tea and novelty chocolate gifts.
The outlets will be up against the likes of Starbucks in the high street cafe chain market.
A Cadbury spokesman said: “It’s an exciting project which builds on the success of the Cadbury brand but it is still very early days.
“It’s still at the concept stage; we haven’t agreed on the artwork, design, content or even how many sites there would be and where they’d be located.”
A deal to open Cadbury-branded outlets was signed in January – slightly before Kraft secured its £11.5bn takeover.
Kraft has now given the green light to the proposals, although it is not thought to be financing the venture.
Retail entrepreneurs will shape the plans.
They are thought to include former director of Food & Restaurants at Harrods, David Morris.
