Business network LinkedIn nets ten millionth member in the UK
BUSINESS social network LinkedIn yesterday celebrated passing the 10m membership mark in the UK.
The tally means an estimated four out of five British business professionals are now registered.
LinkedIn, which began in 2003, has over 175m members worldwide, and has shown strong growth in the UK. It passed the 5m mark in 2010.
Hotpots for UK usage include London, Birmingham, Reading, Edinburgh and Manchester. Its biggest users by occupation are owners, with 533,641 members, and company directors, with 406,850.
LinkedIn, which listed in the US last year, said the organisations which use it most are the NHS, British Telecom, Royal Bank of Scotland, HSBC and IBM.
“Reaching 10m members in the UK shows that skilled workers believe our community is vital to their careers,” the firm said.
