Bumble offers employees unlimited paid leave – as long as the work gets done
Dating app Bumble has said its employees can take unlimited paid leave providing their manager approves it.
It is understood that the app, which employs some 700 people, will allow time off so long as the work is still completed.
The policy move follows the firm’s decision to shut down its office for a week in June to ease burnout and work stress.
Bumble has said that this will not be a one-off, as it has tabled a plan to shut the office for a week twice a year.
The dating app, popular for women making the first move, said the pandemic meant it could “reflect on” the pre-Covid work habits and looked to switch things up.
“It’s becoming increasingly clear that the way that we work, and need to work, has changed and our new policies are a reflection of what really matters and how we can best support our teams in both their work and life,” Bumble president Tarek Shaukat said.
To ensure customers’ needs are still met if they experience any issues, however, Bumble said some customer staff across its Austin, Barcelona, London and Moscow offices will still work.
Big Four accountancy firm PwC said earlier this year encouraged a more flexible approach to work-life, saying its staff would be able to work from home a couple of days a week and start as early or late as they wanted.
