BT’s going on a massive security hiring spree
BT is going on a hiring spree.
The telecoms firm announced this morning that it will hire 900 people over the next 12 months focused entirely on security.
They will largely be based in the UK, in London, Sevenoaks and Cardiff, but with some roles in Europe, the Middle East, America and Asia, while some of the roles will be support service based.
“A number of high-profile security and data breaches have dominated the headlines in recent months, and this has led to a surge in interest from both consumers and IT departments wanting to know how best they can protect themselves in the digital world,” said Mark Hughes, BT's president of security.
“BT plans to remain at the forefront, innovating in cybersecurity, by hiring some of the best talent while training up the next generation of experts at our BT Security Academy," he added.
The company will also get more involved in security hackathons, where experts come together to collaborate on solving problems.
The jobs will range from top level security experts to entry level and of those 900, 170 will go to graduates and apprentices who will be trained at BT's security academy.
BT security is part of its global services business and works on security internally and across business and consumer services. The new jobs will cover areas such as physical security, penetration testing, threat intelligence, risk management, security operations, project management and sales.
Several high profile hacks and data breaches have put cyber security in the spotlight for big businesses.
