BSkyB operating profit up 23pc
Satellite broadcaster BSkyB has seen a 23 per cent rise in operating profit to £1.07bn.
The figures came as the company announced that it is returning £750m to shareholders angered by the recent fall in share prices.
BSkyB is raising its dividend 20 per cent to 23.28 pence per share.
It also grew its customer base by 426,000 in the year to give it a total of 10,294,000 customers.
Average revenue per customer grew £31 to £539 per customer.
BSkyB chief executive Jeremy Darroch confirmed that the decision for James Murdoch to stay on as chairman was a unanimous one.
“There was a long discussion as you would expect at the board yesterday around governance, and that included the role of chairman, and the outcome was that the board was unanimous in its support for James as chairman,” he told BBC News.
