BSkyB chief executive Jeremy Darroch joins Burberry board
BURBERRY has appointed BSkyB chief executive Jeremy Darroch to its board of directors – the second media hire for the luxury fashion brand in a year.
Darroch has worked at BSkyB as chief executive since 2007, having joined the company as financial chief in 2004, leading the satellite broadcaster to reach over 11m customers.
“His experience leading a global media company combined with his tremendous digital and financial expertise will be great assets as we enter this next exciting phase of Burberry’s global growth, and as we continue to focus on delivering long term shareholder value,” said Burberry chairman Sir John Peace.
Burberry, regarded by analysts as one of the most advanced fashion brands in terms of its online and digital offering, hired former BBC Worldwide chief executive John Smith last February as its operations chief.
Darroch will also sit on Burberry’s audit, remuneration and nomination committees as part of the appointment, which is effective with immediate effect.
