Broad lauds his perfect preparation
ENGLAND paceman Stuart Broad insists his preparations for this week’s ICC World Twenty20 have been spot on as he looks to lead England charge for a first-ever international tournament victory.
Broad shunned the chance to play in the recent Indian Premier League in favour of grabbing a month’s rest following England’s tour of Bangladesh.
He then returned to claim an eight-wicket haul for Nottinghamshire in their victory over Somerset last week, and now the 23-year-old insists he is in perfect nick ahead of today’s warm-up game with Bangladesh in Barbados.
“I feel great,” Broad said. “The rest was fantastic after Bangladesh to make sure the body got rid of all the niggles. Then this last week it was a fantastic experience helping Notts win and get some overs under my belt.
“I feel really fresh and excited about what we can do in this tournament.”
Broad will have surely gained valuable experience from the IPL, but insists he does not regret his decision not to play. “Obviously, I want to experience the IPL at some stage – it looks a fantastic tournament,” he added.
“Every player involved in it has only got good words to say. But I am pleased I had the rest this time.”
