Brits to miss Seve Trophy
SIX of Britain’s best golfers will be absent from Sam Torrance’s squad for next month’s Seve Trophy, but the captain is still content with the balance of his team.
Major winners Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Graeme McDowell have opted not to compete, while Luke Donald, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood have also made themselves unavailable for the biennial event in Paris.
However, Torrance still believes his British team is strong enough to record a seventh consecutive win over Continental Europe, who themselves must do without stars Henrik Stenson and Sergio Garcia.
“We have got a good blend of players in the team,” said Torrance.
“And I’m really looking forward to working with all of them.
