BP appoints Lamar McKay as new head of upstream
Oil major BP said today it had appointed Lamar McKay in the newly-created role of head of upstream, in a reorganisation of its oil and gas production operations.
McKay, who will take up the role in January, will lead the upstream business in a reinstatement of a role that was abolished in 2010 after the Gulf of Mexico spill.
McKay, currently chairman and president of BP America, will report directly to BP chief executive Bob Dudley.
Last week, BP agreed to pay $4.5bn (£2.84bn) and plead guilty to changes of misconduct to settle all claims relating to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster, which caused the worst offshore oil spill in US history.
