Boris Johnson tells Corbyn: ‘Man up and back my election’
Boris Johnson has told Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn to “man up” and back a general election as the EU delayed its decision on the length of the UK’s Brexit extension.
The Prime Minister refused to rule out leaving without a deal on the 31st October, contradicting earlier comments by Chancellor of the Exchequer Sajid Javid. He said:
“Of course 31 October is still possible. Unfortunately it depends on what the EU says.”

Speaking to ITV’s Good Morning earlier today, the Labour leader said he would back a general election if Johnson came to parliament on Monday and made a commitment to rule out no-deal Brexit.
Corbyn said yesterday he would not vote for the motion on Monday unless the EU offered an extension. Doing so would remove the imminent threat of a no-deal exit.
Meanwhile, the SNP’s Westminster leader Ian Blackford has called for an election on December 5th, a week before Johnson’s preferred date.
He said it would be better to have the election “as quick as practically possible”, provided no-deal had been ruled out first.

However, the government has said that if the EU offers a delay it will be able to change the date of departure through a statutory instrument.
Yesterday Johnson wrote to Corbyn, saying: “It is our duty to end this nightmare.”
