Boris gives green light to 4,500 London homes
BORIS Johnson has given the go-ahead to over 4,500 new homes over the past two days after approving schemes in Islington and at Convoys Wharf in the Docklands.
The London Mayor has overruled Islington Council’s decision to block Berkeley Homes’ plans for two new residential towers on City Road and granted planning permission yesterday.
The scheme includes a 42-storey tower and a 36-storey block, providing 995 homes of which 30 per cent will be affordable.
Plans by Chinese developer Hutchison Whampoa to build 3,500 new homes, a hotel and three towers at Convoys Wharf in Deptford were also approved on Monday.
Johnson has called in 11 schemes since 2009 as he seeks to hit 100,000 affordable homes by the end of his term.
