Bompas and Parr Alcoholic Architecture: This new London bar has its own alcohol weather system that’s literally a cocktail cloud
A new bar is set to open in London which has its own alcohol weather system – quite literally a cocktail cloud.
Created by food boffins Bompas and Parr, the concepts of mixology and meteorology have collided to create an alcoholic cloud which guests can wander through at a spot near Borough Market.
The installation creates a "fully immersive alcohol environment" which turns spirits and mixers into a fine cloud with the help of humidifiers that create 140 per cent humidity.
Instead of taking a sip of a drink, visitors simply breathe in and alcohol also enters the bloodstream through the eyeballs, but be warned, bypassing the liver means less alcohol is needed to feel the same effect.
“Creatively the installation draws inspiration from Borough Market’s produce, medieval history and weather to create a sci-fi fantasy where meteorology and mixology collide," said Sam Bompas.
"Visiting Alcoholic Architecture will generate the same sort of awe and wonder we have all probably experienced when gazing up at the night’s sky. Imagine Disney meets De Sade in Barbarella’s castle by way of Medieval Times with flagons of ale."
In addition to the cocktail cloud, the usual drinks in a glass, designed to complement the tastes in the air, will be served.
The installation will be at Borough Market for six months from 31 July with tickets priced from £10.
