Bolt’s here but there’s nothing fast about UK’s aviation policy
UNSUSPECTING travellers at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 found a sporting super hero in their midst yesterday morning when Jamaican running sensation, Usain Bolt, greeted international arrivals with his trade mark “To Di Mark” lightening bolt pose.
The Bolt in question was the athlete’s new Madame Tussauds wax figure paying a visit as the airport welcomes record numbers of passengers arriving for the Olympics.
The superfast athlete will take up residence in the world famous attraction in a couple of weeks, but hundreds of fans were given an advance preview at Terminal 5 yesterday.
“We are very proud of our new figure of Usain Bolt and wanted to treat some of the thousands of people coming in to London in the coming days with a surprise welcome from one of the biggest names taking part in the competition,” explained Madame Tussauds general manager, Meike Schulze.
Sadly there’s nothing superfast about the government’s plans to expand airport capacity in the UK. Yesterday the government for the second time delayed a strategy document looking at possible ways to expand airport capacity until the autumn at the earliest, prompting criticism from business.
