BoE and regulator announce new complaints commissioner
The Bank of England and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) have today announced that Anthony Townsend has been appointed at new complaints commissioner.
The independent role has responsibility for conducting the final stages of investigations into complaints about how the FCA and the Bank exercise their relevant functions.
Prior to taking the position, Townsend was chief executive of the Solicitors Regulation Authority and is currently chair of the UK and Ireland Regulatory Board of the Royal Institution of Charted Surveyors.
Andrew Bailey, deputy governor of the Bank of England for Prudential Regulation and Martin Wheatley, chief executive of the FCA, have welcomed Townsend’s appointment. He’ll take up his position on the 1 May, when Sir Anthony Holland, the current commissioner, ends his term.
