Blondes aren’t dumb after all! New research finds than blonde women have slightly higher IQs than brunettes or redheads, according to Ohio State University
Huge if true.
The "dumb blonde" stereotype has been blown out of the water, according to an American study.
After looking into the IQ scores of over 10,000 blonde, brunette, dark and redheaded women, researchers at Ohio Stare University have discovered that blonde people are not as stupid as society would have us believe.
The study found that there's only around a three-point IQ difference between blondes and the rest of the female population.
Blonde-haired white women had an average IQ of 103.2, compared to 102.7 for those with brown hair, 101.2 for those with red hair and 100.5 for those with black hair.
The results for blond men were similar — they also had IQs roughly equal to those with other hair colours.
Jay Zagorsky, the author of the study which was published in the journal Economics Bulletin last week, said that the findings say a lot more about society than hair colour.
Zagorsky said: "Research shows that stereotypes often have an impact on hiring, promotions and other social experiences."
"This study provides compelling evidence that there shouldn't be any discrimination against blondes based on their intelligence."
The Capitalist rejoices.
