BILL OF THE WEEK
A FEAST fit for kings, this – in volume as well as in quality. This group of three happy couples hogged the private room at the West End’s newly-launched Keelung restaurant last week, celebrating the 30th birthday of one of their number.
The group certainly kept the restaurant’s waiters on their toes, shuttling back and forth with dishes such as chicken rolls, crispy oysters, garlic shrimp, whole aromatic crispy duck, pork belly, braised lobster, Chilean sea bass, “drunken” chicken and prawns… (and so the list continues).
It’s a good job their stomachs were well-lined, mind you: the group managed to swig their way through an impressive seven bottles of Laurent Perrier champagne at £60 a pop, three bottles of Chassagne Montrachet and two of Chateau Cantenac Brown, bringing their bill to a tidy £1,040.50 before any service charge was added on.
Not at all shabby for practically a banquet of Taiwanese cuisine, is it?
