Betting: Noseda will be hoping for stroke of luck in Lincoln Trial
Attention is firmly on the Cheltenham Festival, but we’re now just a few weeks away from the Betway Lincoln and there’s a decent card at Wolverhampton on Saturday.
The big betting race is the Lincoln Trial (2.15pm) where a maximum field of 13 will go to post.
This is always a very competitive race, but I tend to look for the more unexposed types rather than horses like Solar Deity, who have little to hide from the handicapper.
Jeremy Noseda has his string in excellent from, with two of his last three runners winning, and he saddles
KEYSTROKE here.
The son of Pivotal won his first two starts last season before getting a rough and unlucky trip at Newmarket in September. He’s better than that and, although this is his first start on the all-weather, he should prefer it to the softer surfaces he was running on last term.
I’m pretty sure this fellow will turn out better than his mark of 92 and a penalty for winning should see him sneak into the field for the Betway Lincoln.
The sponsors offer 20/1 so expect that to shorten if he’s successful.
The Listed Lady Wulfruna Stakes (2.50pm) features the last two winners and I’m hoping CHOOKIE ROYALE can regain his crown after winning the 2014 renewal.
Keith Dalgleish’s eight-year-old is as tough as old boots and loves it at Wolverhampton.
He was beaten by Sovereign Debt 12 months ago, but has a 5lb pull for that defeat and I’d expect him to reverse the places.
The front-running Kelinni is respected, as is Mister Universe, although I can see them setting it up perfectly for my selection, who likes to race up with the pace.
