Betting: Crisis club Hull set for one-way ticket back to the Championship
Gaining promotion to the Premier League should be a reason to celebrate, but for Hull fans it’s looking increasingly like a season of pain is on its way.
While most teams are strengthening their squads to compete with the step up in quality, Hull’s owners are instead getting rid of players as they look to sell up.
In fact, only nine were fit enough to join in with the club’s pre-season tour. Add in that they are currently managerless following Steve Bruce’s resignation and it’s safe to say they are a club in crisis.
Mohamed Diame even decided a step back down to the Championship was a better idea than hanging around at Hull, sealing a move to Newcastle.
Sunderland, Derby and most recently Aston Villa all spring to mind when it comes to embarrassing Premier League sides. But Hull have the potential to be even worse.
They are yet to sign a player this transfer window and, with talks of a takeover suspended until September, it could all prove too much for them.
Last season’s Premier League winners Leicester are the first opponents of the new campaign and that game is likely to be played to the backdrop of mass protests.
It’s hardly the ideal way to kick off a new campaign and I’m only too happy to sell Hull points at 31.5 with Sporting Index.
Swansea are another side who have seemingly been happy to sell their best players this summer, with West Ham signing Andre Ayew and Everton nabbing Ashley Williams.
Williams was the Swans’ captain and will be a major loss. I fear it could be a departure they live to regret and I’m backing them to get relegated at 3/1 with Betway.
