Barclays appoints CMC Capital’s Carlo Calabria as chairman of mergers and acquisitions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa
Barclays has appointed founding partner of CMC Capital Carlo Calabria as chairman for mergers and acquisitions in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Calabria is one of nine new people employed to Barclays' investment banking operations from CMC Capital.
"Carlo will work closely with Pier Luigi Colizzi, Head of M&A EMEA, to help accelerate the delivery of our strategy and move us further into the top five in M&A EMEA," Barclays said.
Calabria has previously worked as vice chairman of Bank of American Merrill Lynch's global corporate and investment banking division, as well as holding several other senior roles.

These appointments show the strength of our platform and our commitment to better help our clients achieve their goals," Crispin Osborne, co-head of banking EMEA at Barclays, said.
Enrico Chiapparoli is also joining the industrials team, while Stefano Soldi will be working on power and utilities.
