Bankside Power Station (AKA Tate Modern) suffers power failure
Oh the irony. The Tate Modern, based in the former oil powered station on the banks of the Thames, suffered a power failure this morning causing it to shut.
The gallery, one of London's most visited attractions, had to turn art fans away while they tried to return power to the huge building.
Those Matisse fans with time-allocated tickets were being offered later slots, as staff were unsure when the issue would be resolved.

The site of the gallery, once Bankside Power Station, was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, who also designed Battersea Power Station a bit further down the river.
