BAFTA 2015: The winners are…
Eddie Redmayne and Julianne Moore claimed the awards for leading actor and actress last night at the BAFTAs, Britain’s film industry awards. Redmayne played Professor Stephen Hawking in The Theory Of Everything, which also picked up the gong for outstanding British film. Moore won for her role in Still Alice. Boyhood was named best film and Patricia Arquette, who starred in the coming-of-age drama, took the title of best supporting actress, while director Richard Linklater was also recognised. The Grand Budapest Hotel took home the biggest haul of five prizes. Figures show the UK film industry has real star quality. Data from 2012, the latest available, showed it contributed £4.6bn to British GDP. Meanwhile numbers from the BFI published last week revealed 2014 to be a record year for film, with the highest ever spend on film production. Over £1.47bn was spent on UK film production last year, up 35 per cent from 2013.
