Award up for grabs for businesses which back community sport
Businesses in London can be nominated for an award recognising their role in supporting community sport.
The London Sport Awards, which take place in December, celebrate the efforts of volunteers, organisations, physical activity and sport projects across the capital over the last 18 months.
The 10 categories include the Business Contribution Award, which aims to celebrate the efforts of businesses big and small which have made a difference to local communities through sport.
The award, supported by the City of London Corporation, recognises firms which have backed sport and physical activity through practical support, mentoring, collaboration or investment.
Lord Mayor of London William Russell said:
“The importance of sport and physical activity for people’s physical and mental health has been thrown into sharp focus during the long months of lockdown during the pandemic.
“Businesses play a vital role in allowing these kind of projects to exist, and I would encourage anyone who knows of a company which has made a real impact on helping local communities to get active to nominate it for this award.”
People can nominate their own business or others, if they have supported community sport or physical activity in a particular area of London between 1 January 2020 and 30 June 2021.
London Sport’s Director of Commercial, Marketing and Communications, Tanya Rabin, said:
“The Awards shines a spotlight on the incredible, and often unrecognised, work done by individuals and organisations in communities across the city to improve Londoners’ lives through physical activity and sport.
“This year’s Awards will be particularly special as we recognise and celebrate the individuals, organisations and projects that have continued to champion the power of sport and physical activity and kept London moving during the pandemic.”
Nominations for the awards can be made by the deadline of 5pm on Thursday, 15 July at https://londonsport.org/our-events/london-sport-awards/nominate-2021/
