Australia’s nemesis Wilko ready to renew hostilities
ENGLAND manager Martin Johnson expects fly-half Jonny Wilkinson to be fit to face his old foes Australia on Saturday.
Wilkinson had been considered a major doubt owing to the rib injury he suffered playing for Toulon in the Amlin Challenge Cup final last month. But the 31-year-old – a key man in the 2003 tour Down Under and the World Cup success there later that year – has been given the all-clear to resume full training tomorrow. Prop Jon Golding and wing David Strettle are also likely to be available for the first Test in Perth.
“They will be back in full training by Tuesday, Jon probably by Wednesday or Thursday,” said Johnson. “They will all be fit by Saturday and if they are fit for full training, they are fit to play.”
