Aussie ace tips Djokovic for London glory
THIS week’s ATP World Tour Finals is set to be a titanic duel between reigning champion Novak Djokovic and world No1 Rafael Nadal, says former Wimbledon finalist Mark Philippoussis.
The Australian is tipping Djokovic to defend his title in London and warns that big-serving Argentinian Juan Martin del Potro and in-form Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka are the dark horses.
“Rafa and Novak are playing on a different level to the rest right now, especially Nadal over the course of the season, although Djokovic is probably the most in-form guy in the last month or so,” he said.
“I see Nadal playing Djokovic in the final with Del Potro and Wawrinka being the danger men in their respective groups. I’d pick Novak to win it at the moment.
“Del Potro could mess up the plans of Djokovic and Nadal, not just at the 02, but in the slams next year. Wawrinka will probably come out swinging and that makes him dangerous.”
Mark Philippoussis will play in the Statoil Masters at the Royal Albert Hall, 4-8 December.
