Asian markets boost Genus
Genus shares jumped two per cent as the animal genetics company reported a 25 per cent rise in pre-tax profits to £23.3m and announced it would pay an interim dividend for the first time this year. While weak demand in the European pig market impinged profits across the continent, global porcine sales volumes were boosted 13 per cent by growth in Asia. China and India increased bovine volumes by eight per cent. The first half of the year upped revenues nine per cent to £166.9m.
