Asda hires new finance chief as Richard Mayfield joins Walmart
ASDA has appointed a new chief financial officer after announcing yesterday that Richard Mayfield is to leave the retailer after just a year in the role to join parent company Walmart.
The grocery chain said Alex Russo will join the group in January from Peruvian restaurant franchise specialist Delosi, which works with brands including Starbucks, KFC and Pizza Hut.
A senior independent director at Delosi, Alex has overseen a period of rapid expansion and helped overhaul the executive team.
He has also worked at Asda’s larger competitor Tesco as group commercial finance director, chief financial officer of its South Korean business and has also held senior finance roles with Kingfisher and Boots.
Asda said Mayfield, who joined Asda last year from John Lewis, will become chief financial officer of Walmart’s Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
The reshuffle comes just a day after Walmart named Doug McMillon its new chief executive, replacing Mike Duke.
