Arsene Wenger warns fans that Arsenal may not spend big in summer transfer window despite £160m cash reserves
Any Arsenal fan hoping for the club to respond to a disappointing season by spending big in the transfer window would be well advised to stop reading now.
Arsene Wenger wants you to know that signing players who can improve his side may not be as easy as you think.
Gunners fans are currently dreading the very real possibility that they could finish behind Spurs, who currently lead them by six points having played a game more, for the first time in 20 years and Wenger has risked fuelling their frustration by warning that the club may not be able to spend big money on top players in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal spent just £11m on one player, Petr Cech, last summer and many fans want the club to recruit top talent in the forthcoming window following what looks set to be another trophy-less season.
The club revealed it is sitting on healthy cash reserves of £160m in its most recent accounts and will benefit from the introduction of the Premier League's new £8bn TV deal next season.
But Wenger has said that more money will not necessarily equal better players and poured scorn on those who doubt the quality of his current team.
"We have to strengthen our squad but it's not obvious to find the players despite the money the English clubs will have," said Wenger.
"Of course we will work very hard to do that. We are already working. But we have to find the players and that is not easy.
"The core is not good enough? That's an outside point of view. We have again to analyse it in an objective way. And this team has won many games and the quality of many games was at top level."
