Arsenal set to end nine year trophy drought in FA Cup final
BEN CLEMINSON PREVIEWS THE FA CUP FINAL AND BILL ESDAILE CASTS HIS EYE OVER THE BEST OF THE RACING
ARSENAL have a great chance to end their nine-year wait for a trophy when they take on Hull in the FA Cup final at Wembley tomorrow.
Despite leading this season’s Premier League for 128 days – more than any other side ̶ the Gunners fell away, eventually finishing seven points behind champions Manchester City.
Arsenal fans will be praying that the north London club can eliminate the mounting pressure on manager Arsene Wenger by hunting down the Tigers and collecting some much-needed silverware.
Hull, who are playing in their first ever FA Cup final, lost four of their last five league fixtures, but don’t read too much into that as Steve Bruce’s side knew they were safe several weeks before the end of their campaign.
The Tigers, who understandably start as underdogs and are 11/4 with Titan Bet, will take confidence from both Arsenal’s tense semi-final win against Wigan, as well as their slip-up back in 2011 when big outsiders Birmingham beat them 2-1 in the League Cup final.
Titan Bet believe Arsenal will deliver the goods and are offering a very tempting money back promotion if the Gunners fail to win in normal time.
Despite the expectation of a cagey opening half, Arsenal’s quality and experience should show in the second period. The Draw/Arsenal at 3/1 with Titan Bet appeals. They beat Hull in the league both home and away this season and have won their last six encounters against the Yorkshire side.
Recent history shows that FA Cup finals are tight affairs. The previous six have all been settled by a one goal margin and that trend is expected to continue.
Titan Bet are offering 11/2 for Arsenal to win 1-0 and this looks a fair price. They have lifted the trophy on five of their last six appearances in the final and kept clean sheets in each of their last three FA Cup finals. Moreover, four of the last six finals have finished 1-0. Titan Bet are also offering a unique opportunity to bet on any one of 10 of the Gunners’ biggest international names to score both in the cup final as well as at any point during the group stages of the World Cup.
French striker Oliver Giroud has scored five in his last six FA Cup outings. The 4/1 for him to find the back of the net tomorrow as well as in Brazil might be worth a punt.
