Arsenal players want Arsene Wenger to sign a new contract, insists Gunners striker Olivier Giroud
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has declared that he and his team-mates want Arsene Wenger to sign a new contract despite the team’s current alarming slump.
Wenger’s future remains uncertain, with the Frenchman yet to reveal whether he intends to extend his 20-year stay in north London and club chiefs silent on an increasingly sensitive issue.
Gunners fans are divided over their degree of support for Wenger, who has overseen a sequence of six defeats in nine games, but Giroud insists the dressing room is behind the 67-year-old.

“We want to see Arsene Wenger sign an extension, to continue the adventure, because we support him,” Giroud told French media.
Arsenal’s current malaise is statistically the worst since Wenger arrived in 1996 and has led to widespread questioning of the players’ conviction in their manager’s approach.
Wenger said he had made a decision on his future after Saturday’s 3-1 loss at West Brom, having previously indicated that he would resolve the impasse in March or April.
It is not known whether he has communicated that to the club, who have denied reports in the German media that they made an approach for highly-rated Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel.
