Argos offers eBay pickup with click and collect partnership
Buyers of eBay items will be able to collect more of their goods at Argos stores, after the two companies announced yesterday that they would be significantly expanding their click and collect partnership as the service is rolled out across the UK.
The deal will see the click and collect service extended to around 650 Argos stores, with about 65,000 eBay sellers expected to take part by the end of 2014, rising to more than 80,000 sellers offering the option by the end of 2015.
The two companies started working on the partnership in September 2013, when a trial was launched including 150 Argos stores and 50 eBay sellers, with customer response being “incredibly popular”.
The service will give busy eBay customers the chance to collect items at a more convenient time of their choosing, while providing Argos with increased footfall at its stores.
Recently there has been a significant increase in companies using the click and collect method, and last month Amazon said it would add to its range of pickup lockers by bringing them to some London Tube station car parks.
Home Retail Group, the parent company of Argos, saw its share price rise by 3.5 per cent to finish on 186.30p.
