Arabian Comet to sparkle in Park Hill
The Park Hill Stakes (2.40pm) sees many contenders step up in trip for this Group Three prize. In races like these it can often pay to side with a proven stayer, a label that few runners can lay claim to here.
ARABIAN COMET is one of those few though, after her game second to the hardy Missunited at Goodwood over the same distance, where she missed out by just half a length.
As a three-year-old, this Dubawi filly gets valuable weight from some of her rivals, at a stage of the season when the age gap isn’t quite as significant.
William Haggas’ charge hasn’t finished outside the top three since September last year, and it’s not hard to envisage a good run.
Of her rivals, Seal Of Approval would like softer ground, while likely favourite Venus De Milo disappointed when last seen over this trip and is becoming frustrating at the top tiers of racing.
David O’Meara and Daniel Tudhope made their breakthrough at the top level when G Force won the Haydock Sprint Cup on Saturday and DOC HAY has been another sprinter flying the flag for the stable over the last few seasons.
Winner of the 2012 Portland here, the seven-year-old then took a Listed contest and went as high as 104 in the ratings. The drop to a seller last time at Beverley saw him get his head in front for the first time in 13 starts and, with his confidence buoyed, the gelding should go well in the closing sprint handicap (5.35pm).
Now rated 87, Doc Hay at least brings recent winning form to the table in a race full of exposed and out of form handicappers.
