Apple iPhone SE release event: Boss Tim Cook says Apple “will not shrink from responsibility” in FBI legal battle over privacy
"We will not shrink from this responsibility" said a defiant Tim Cook in reference to Apple's legal struggle with the FBI over encryption of its iPhones.
The Apple chief executive has taken to the stage at a launch event where the tech company is expected to unveil it's latest iPhone – the 5se – but first addressed the issue which has arisen in recent weeks after the FBI requested Apple give access to an iPhone used by one of the killers in the San Bernadino shooting.
"We owe it to our customers and we owe it to our country. This is an issue that impacts all of us, and we will not shrink from this responsibility," said Cook.
"We built the iPhone for you, our customers, and we know it is a deeply personal device. We need to decide, as a nation, how much power the government should have over our data and our privacy."
