THE BUDGET-related gags still hadn’t run out of steam when the Taxpayers’ Alliance held a briefing on Tufton Street yesterday. Lib Dem MP Jeremy Browne kicked things off: “We can go and celebrate, buy 350 beers get one free,” he chortled. Lord McFall wasn’t far behind though, likening the chancellor to game show legend Noel Edmonds. “George Osborne was like Noel Edmonds hosting a game show. Robert Halfon? You get a bingo tax cut! The honourable member for Northampton has potholes. We’ve got £200m for potholes! And the camera would move round and show us their beaming faces.”
SPRING has officially sprung, and if there were lambs in London they’d be leaping. But if you’re not exactly bouncing, Broadgate is here to help. The office complex has launched Spring into Health, an initiative designed to keep City workers fresh and healthy. It started last night with a free sushi making class at Japanese restaurant K10, so naturallyThe Capitalist went down to give it a go. Those Broadgate-ites who managed to stay awake during an unfortunately snooze-inducing sushi lecture were treated to half an hour of power maki-making. Definitely left on a roll.
