Forget the huge salaries and enormous bonuses – it seems one of the banking giants’ biggest perks may be the boardroom banquet. While many of us mere mortals are nipping out for a sandwich, a new wave of the UK’s finest chefs are apparently honing their skills to feed the upper echelons of finance. Proof comes from the chase for the highly prized Roux Scholarship, which launches winners into the world of Michelin stars. This year six of the 12 semi-finalists in the capital come from restaurants serving at UBS, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, AIG, BNY Mellon and Barclays Wealth. Organiser Amin Momen said the German medal haul was “pretty impressive” at this year’s event last weekend. Still, a few managed to keep the British flag flying, including grand slalom amateur winners Quentin Perchat (right) of Lombard Odier and Annabel Fell-Clark of AXA Fine Art – plus the unnamed City wag who skied the course wearing just his race bib.
