Andrew: No beef with Sir Clive
FORMER England international Rob Andrew claims he would have no problem working alongside Sir Clive Woodward after he was yesterday confirmed as the RFU’s new director of rugby operations.
Andrew, whose previous position as elite rugby director had been made redundant, could be forced to work with Woodward should the RFU, as hotly tipped, appoint the World Cup winning coach to the currently vacant position of performance director.
The pair have criticised each repeatedly since Andrew was preferred for the elite rugby director’s job in 2006 – Woodward subsequently branded Andrew’s vision “unconvincing” – but the former Newcastle director of rugby described his relationship with Woodward as “fine”.
Andrew added: “My life has been around putting teams together and making sure people work together and I could not have achieved what I have without being able to work with people.”
