Analyst Views: What is your view of Centamin following yesterday’s results?
JONATHAN GUY | RBC CAPITAL MARKETS
Centamin’s scale of resource and production, in conjunction with a diverse shareholder base, could make it one of the more credible acquisition targets among the gold miners. [But] any bid for the company is unlikely to materialise whilst the political situation in Egypt remains challenging.
CAILEY BARKER | NUMIS
Full-year results are in line with our expectations. We expect operations to continue to surprise to the upside and another decent year ahead, with a hopeful dividend on the cards. We maintain our view that this will be Centamin’s year, especially if legal issues and politics are resolved.
ROB BROKE | WESTHOUSE
While Egypt remains a concern, this is balanced by the strong operational performance and decreasing capital expenditure raising the possibility of a dividend. [But we] expect it will be hard for the company to add significant value until the legal disputes can be finally settled.
