Analyst Views: Are you concerned that the fire will dampen Asos’s performance?
JOHN STEVENSON | PEEL HUNT
Damage has been relatively limited and the business in now fully operational again, while Asos is fully insured for the damage and business interruption…Moving on from the fire, the same concerns are still there, there are still issues in terms of the relative pricing. It’s still very much a year of consolidation.
NICK BUBB | INDEPENDENT RETAIL ANALYST
The last thing that poor old Asos needed right now was a warehouse fire, but fortunately the website was only down over the weekend and late-June isn’t the busiest time of the year…The problem for the share price is that the valuation has already been coming under pressure, after the recent profits warnings.
FREDDIE GEORGE | CANTOR FITZGERALD
For the time being we are provisionally retaining our full year pre-tax profit forecast of £46m as we assume that any stock loss will be covered by insurance… It will take time, we believe, to remedy the range issues and there is a strong likelihood of a third profit warning in the lead up to the autumn/winter 2014/15 season.
