Amir Khan vs Devon Alexander: Khan to wear most expensive boxing shorts in history lined with 24-carat gold
Amir Khan may have narrowly missed out on gold at the 2004 Athens Olympics, but he’s more than compensated for that with the lavish shorts he will sport when he fights Devon Alexander this Saturday.
The Bolton boxer nicknamed “King” will wear white nappa leather shorts with genuine 24-carat gold woven into the waistband and crocodile skin trim when he dips into the ring at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
They are the most expensive pair of boxing shorts ever, estimated to be worth between £20,000 – £30,000.
And if that wasn’t excessive enough, Khan will even wear shorts made from Versace material and stitched with over 1,000 Swarovski stones for a media workout today.

Khan takes on Alexander in a WBC “silver” welterweight title fight. The American southpaw will provide a tough test for Khan who is hoping victory will set up a meeting with the highest-paid athlete in the world and undefeated Floyd Mayweather.
Both Khan and Alexander have similar records, the latter having lost three of his 32 fights, the latter losing two of 28.
Although the exact purse on offer for Saturday’s bout is not public knowledge, Khan will likely have had no problem funding the pricey shorts thanks to the $1.5m he earned from fighting on the undercard of the Mayweather – Maidana fight in May.
