Allardyce rubbishes fan abuse and vows to keep Hammers job
WEST Ham manager Sam Allardyce has shrugged off supporter discontent and insists he expects to still be in charge at Upton Park next season.
The Hammers have lost seven of their last nine Premier League matches and during last week’s 1-0 defeat at West Brom displayed a banner which read: “Fat Sam Out. Killing WHU.”
Sections of supporters have also chanted unfavourable songs and the Hammers were even booed off the pitch following a 2-1 home win against Hull.
But Allardyce, whose team host London rivals Tottenham tomorrow, believes the results rather than style of play are the supporters’ bugbear and is confident of winning them round.
“The banners are a nonsense. It is not about the way we play, fans get upset because they haven’t won,” said the 59-year-old.
“I would not see any other way than me continuing next season, until either David Sullivan, David Gold or Karren [Brady] ring me to say otherwise.
“You have got to remember, we are all in this together. I am delivering what the owners want. We are very close to being in the Premier League for another season.”
