A tale of two parties – money-making managers may be double booked next week, as two awards dinners for London’s hedge fund set take place on Tuesday night
Next Tuesday is going to be a heavy one for London's hedge fund set.
Thomson Reuters and Allocator will be fighting over the capital's money makers on the same night: The Capitalist notes both firms are holding black tie balls for hedge fund managers on the same night on opposite sides of Zone One.
This isn't the first time City folk have found themselves double-booked. Last year the British Bankers’ Association (BBA) and TheCityUK hosted their annual summer drinks parties on the same night.
For the investment firms based in the West End, Allocator's Investor Choice Awards may be of interest. The fintech firm tells us the black tie event, taking place at the Dorchester Hotel on April 19, will "bring together London's brightest and best performing hedge fund managers".
Karen Tso, host of CNBC’s Squawk Box show, will be presenting the awards. Not wanting to leave us in doubt, the invitation adds: "the evening will be a celebration of the best talent in investment management".
If you don't fall into that category, worry not: Thomson Reuters is also having a party for fund managers at the Grange Tower Bridge. A spokesperson from the firm makes a strong case for heading to Thomson Reuters Lipper Fund Awards.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the news agency's celebration of investors and hedge fund managers, and the firm even held a similar party in Germany last month (pictured) where guests were surprised by a vintage Porsche driving through the ballroom at the start of the night.
The Capitalist admits it did look fun.
So, whether you work in Mayfair or the Square Mile, we suspect a lot of star investors will be taking the day off on Wednesday.
