IPL will not be moved again, insists Modi
INDIAN Premier League chief Lalit Modi insists the tournament will not be moved for a second year running despite security concerns.
An independent report, written by British security expert Reg Dickason, has raised “serious” concerns about safety at the tournament, and now Australia’s players have refused to commit to playing until the issues are addressed.
The tournament was switched to South Africa last year following similar concerns, but Modi says there will be no repeat this time.
“We are going to have the tournament in India,” he said. “I can’t see any reason why we should move it at this point in time. The media is reacting to every fringe group saying security is a problem.”
