ANALYST VIEWS: WHAT DID YOU MAKE OF CENTRICA’S RESULTS?
JONATHAN JACKSON | KILLIK CAPITAL
Centrica was slightly ahead of market expectations. Earnings per share were maintained at 21.7p as a strong performance at British Gas Residential and a lower tax bill helped offset weaker wholesale gas prices and lower production. The outlook for 2010 is positive.
LAKIS ATHANASIOU | EVOLUTION SECURITIES
Solid set of results. The interesting thing is the swing in British Gas against the UK gas production. In regard to York and Seven Seas reserves, there is a slight bearish connotation. We need to accept that Centrica’s reserve base has entered a period of greater volatility.
TINA COOK | CHARLES STANLEY
There’s been a strong performance in the company’s downstream business which has been strongly offset in upstream profitability. It’s been a transitional year for Centrica and its latest gas acquisition in Trinidad and Tobago builds on their existing assets there.
