London & Capital
The boutique wealth management firm has appointed Sanjay Joshi as a senior portfolio manager in the fixed income team, responsible for overseeing portfolio construction, asset allocation and the company’s new UCITS income funds offering.
Joshi rejoins London & Capital after spending four years at F&C Asset Management, co-managing a fixed income hedge fund. Prior to that, he was a portfolio manager at the firm.
Jefferies
The investment bank has hired Mike Betts as a managing director and global building materials equity research analyst.
Betts, who will be based in London, joins from JP Morgan, where he spent over 10 years as the global building materials analyst. He has also previously worked at Goldman Sachs.
Société Générale
The bank has appointed Michel Payan as head of coverage and investment banking for the central and eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa region, a position based in Paris.
Payan has been global head of M&A at SocGen since 2006, having previously worked as managing director of corporate finance adviser Hawkpoint Partners. He is succeeded by Thierry d’Argent, currently a managing director and member of the M&A executive committee.
Simmons & Simmons
The law firm has appointed Steven McNab to lead its environment practice in London.
McNab joins from Travers Smith, where he has been a partner and head of environment and planning since 2006. He also previously worked at Jones Day and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Last year, McNab founded the multi-sector charity Leapfrog, which undertakes pro bono work to support climate change projects.
Herbert Smith
The law firm has reshuffled its management team, with Martin Bakes assuming the new role of general counsel and John Mullins becoming chief operating officer.
Bakes is a dispute resolution partner in the insurance and reinsurance litigation group, while Mullins is currently finance director.
Atlas One
The US private banking broker/dealer has appointed Brian Lazell as senior managing director and head of its UK-based subsidiary, Atlas One Financial Group.
Lazell was most recently head of fixed income for Renaissance Capital Moscow. Prior to that he spent seven years at BNP Paribas, latterly as head of corporate debt capital markets Europe, and has also worked at Chase Manhattan and JP Morgan.
