Staff at John Lewis set to receive 14pc bonuses
STAFF at John Lewis Partnerships are set to share a bonus pool of £140m as the company outperformed during the second half of 2009.
The bonus will work out at 14 per cent of an employee’s annual salary, or eight weeks pay for the 70,000 workers.
The retail group is expected to announce a rise in pre-tax profits of £315m at its end of year results this week, up from £280m last year.
John Lewis and Waitrose stores experienced strong sales in the second half of 2009, recovering from a dismal first half of the year.
Nic Bubb, analyst at Arden Partners said: “It was a great second half of the year for the company, with profits up by around 33 per cent.”
