ANALYST VIEWS: WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF DSG’S TRADING UPDATE?
MATTHEW MCEACHRAN SINGER CAPITAL
DSG indicates that revenues are slightly ahead of expectations. Overall, and ahead of the all-important winter trading period, and the World Cup next summer, this statement is encouraging. But, within this, like-for-like sales in the UK were down by 14-15 per cent.

UK like-for-like sales remain challenging at both PC World and Currys, both down by double-digits like for like, although this has been partially mitigated by improving fortunes for the Nordic operations and Italy. DSG has also announced the disposal of its Polish operations.

The trading update at the group level has come in ahead of expectations thanks to a better than expected performance from the Nordics region with group like-for-like sales down six per cent compared to our forecast of nine per cent. We believe pressure on the group is on the upside.
