the INSIDER
THIS WEEK the focus has been on jockeys and specifically Kieren Fallon. Having K Fallon ‘Airfixed’ next to a runner is definitely a massive plus, the former champ has a great feel for race riding and a list of strategies longer than an NFL play book. The other jockey in the news is Christophe Soumillon, now former jockey to the Aga Khan. I haven’t been the biggest fan of this Gallic rider but it would be interesting to see him taking on Kieren, Ryan, Richard and Jamie in next year’s Jockey’s Championship.
Kieren is back in the saddle in Britain today after three years in the wilderness. He has been engaged to ride seven mounts on his first day at the office and even though they are all likely to be subject to ‘betting shop’ Dollars, his first ride RARE MALT (Lingfield 2.20pm) can give him what he craves, a winner.
There will also be plenty of money including mine for him on Saturday when he rides William Haggas’s HIGH STANDING in the Group 1 Betfred Sprint Cup. It might be worth have a small each way saver on SAYIF who has been supplemented by his connections. I can’t say Sayif has the form in the book but trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam occasionally produces a great training feet, if only he could do it with consistently.
