Lazard
The financial advisory and asset management group has appointed Charles Foreman as a managing director in the UK capital markets advisory and M&A team.
Foreman, 47, joins from Deutsche Bank, where he was a managing director in the UK coverage team. His recent assignments include advising the government on stabilising the UK banking system in November 2008, as well as advising on a number of transactions for miner Xstrata.
Nomura
The Japanese banking group has hired Jim McCormick as head of fixed income research for the EMEA region, responsible for all fixed income research activities, including economics, dedicated product strategies and portfolio solutions for clients.
McCormick was previously global head of FX and local markets strategy at Citigroup, and also worked at Lehman Brothers for seven years, first as head of FX and emerging markets strategy and later as co-head of global liquid markets strategy.
RBC Capital Markets
The investment banking arm of the Royal Bank of Canada has poached two Goldman Sachs bankers to join its global investment banking group in Europe.
Josh Critchley joins as a managing director and head of the European equity capital markets and corporate broking team, having worked as a managing director in the UK equity capital markets group at Goldman.
He is joined by Matthew Coakes, who becomes a director and previously worked at Goldman, Citibank and Deutsche Bank.
Carne Global Financial Services
Bill Blackwell and Aman Jairath have joined the hedge fund advisory group in the product development and regulatory compliance teams respectively.
Blackwell joins from JP Morgan, where he was senior manager for global liquidity product development in the EMEA region. Jairath formerly worked at compliance services provider The CCL Partnership, and has also worked for Investec as compliance team leader for its anti-money laundering practice.
DLA Piper
The law firm has appointed Bob Charlton as EMEA group head of finance and projects, effective from next week.
Charlton has nearly 30 years of experience at the so-called “Magic Circle” law firms, having formerly been a partner at Clifford Chance and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Baring Asset Management
The investment management firm has appointed Laura Ahto to the new role of head of operations and technology.
Ahto was previously head of operations, administration and European funds at PIMCO Europe.
