New group to give wealthy people advice
A COLLECTION of bankers and lawyers have formed a new steering committee aimed at giving advice to wealthy individuals looking to make large donations to charities.
Coutts & Co, JP Morgan and legal outfit Withers have come together, along with chair Dame Stephanie Shirley, to launch and develop a philanthropy advice service for high-net worth individuals.
The committee, which is being launched by charity think tank New Philanthropy Capital (NPC), said this was the first time both industries have come together to offer this type of advice.
“We need to ensure that philanthropy advice is promoted as widely as possible, with the highest standards of best practice, so that wealthy individuals will give more and think more about the impact of that giving,” said Shirley.
NPC said that philanthropy is growing despite the economic downturn.
