City scrape through as Hull mauled
CAPTAIN Kolo Toure headed his first goal for Manchester City as they came from behind to beat Fulham 2-1 after extra time.
The visitors, featuring a raft of changes, took a shock lead against a full-strength City line-up when Hungary midfielder Zoltan Gera rifled in from 25 yards.
City dominated possession but did not level until after half time, when Gareth Barry headed home. And Toure settled the all-Premier League clash in the 111th minute when he met Martin Petrov’s corner.
Everton piled more pressure on Hull boss Phil Brown by thrashing the Tigers 4-0 at the KC Stadium. The Toffees made the home side pay for fielding a weakened team as Yakubu, making his first start since November 2008, scored the opener. Jo nodded in a second before Dan Gosling and Leon Osman also netted.
Gabriel Agbonlahor’s third-minute strike was enough to book Aston Villa a place in the fourth round as they saw off Cardiff 1-0. The 22-year-old forward cheekily back-heeled John Carew’s low near-post cross.
